An Allegorical Reflection on the Mexican Revolution
An Allegorical Reflection on The Mexican Revolution Gender, Agency, Memory, and Identity in Like Water for Chocolate Leah A. Cheyne, barwench99@hotmail.com April 30, 2003 Alfonso Arauââ¬â¢s Like Water for Chocolate (1993) can be read as an allegorical examination of the Mexican Revolution, tracing the effects of the conflicting ideologies underlying the revolution through the displacement onto the family structure. At once removed and central to understanding the narrative, this portrayal of the Mexican Revolution valorizes and romanticizes the contributions of women. It both informs the spectator that this is at once a historical reenactment of the Revolution at a microcosm level, the family, and through the family constructs aâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦While this accentuates the sexual, especially with Gertrudisââ¬â¢ liberation from the hacienda after her consumption of the ââ¬Å"quail in rose pedalâ⬠meal, violent attacks on Rosaura, and various encounters between Tita and Pedro, it also ââ¬Å"constructs a general sense of folkloric and historical depth through placement within the context of the Mexican Revolution and through on going references to traditional Mexican cuisine.â⬠(Haveli-Wise 123) In this sense, ââ¬Å"magic realismâ⬠prefaces the melodramatic moments through gastronomic interior spaces that enable ââ¬Å"different womenââ¬â¢s voices heard, and revitalizing identityââ¬âboth personal and collectiveââ¬âas a social and national cultural construction.â⬠(Zamudio-Taylor 45) In considering both the novel and film as primarily concerned with feminine identity and female contribution to the formation of the Mexican national identity, it is important to raise several questions. Who has agency throughout the texts? To what extent is this agency beneficial? How are the crises resolved? What has been altered or omitted in the adaptation from novel to film? How is ideology infused in the texts? How does this comment upon the cultural dynamics of modern Mexico? Each of these questions require scrutinizing the texts in order to determine the relevance of the revolutionary ideals and a feminine notion of mexicanidad. The use of traditional resources has the potential to become

Complementary Services and Products
Question: Discuss about the Complementary Services and Products. Answer: Introduction Hotels are the establishments which offer the paid lodging and generally complementary services and products to the customers, and are ubiquitous, as well as, represents the hospitality industry. The hospitality industry particularly the hotel industry is observed to be the most lucrative enterprises globally and with the increasing global growth, the hotel industries are found to be continued as warrants and positive introspective scrutiny. It has been observed that the most important component of the hotel industry is the hospitality factor, also known as the service (Akova, 2015). The hospitality factor or service is paramount and is above anything else. One can form the most beautiful and attractive hotel having the most amazing parameters and features, but if the services to the guests are not good, the hotel industry will fail undoubtedly. Hence, hospitality factor or services is an important parameter in determining the growth of the hotel industry (Kattara El-Said, 2013). I have been employed as a consultant by a hotel named Colony inn, which provides various facilities and services to the consumers like accommodation, entertainment, food and beverages, gaming, spas, meetings, events, and some related products. Authentic hospitality and high customer satisfaction are the key components of this hotel industry. Hence, in this business report, the methods and ways of incorporating the concept of home to market the services and to hospitality experience of the hotel industry will be discussed associated with its positive outcomes. Concept of home to deliver the hospitality experience Hotels are focused on fulfilling the number of roles in the society and serve several services to the consumers. For several vacationers and travelers, a hotel is considered as a home away from their home. The main purpose and role of hotels is the provision of the shelter, refreshment, food, and various similar goods and services to the travelers, which are offered on a commercial grounds that are customarily equipped within the households but are unavailable to the individuals who are on a journey and away from their home. Historically, the hotels are found to serve various other functions like serving as centers of business exchanges, sociability, decorative showcases, places of deliberation and public assembly, vacation spots, political headquarters, as well as, temporary residences. Moreover, a broad range of various social and meeting procedures and activities are also conducted in a hotel like meetings, weddings, trade shows, family reunions, and conventions (Knutson, Beck, Ki m, Cha, 2008). The hotel can be described as an establishment that is held out by the owner or proprietor as a provision or offering of the sleeping accommodation to the individuals who are capable and willing to spend a reasonable sum or amount of money for the various facilities and services that are being provided to them in the hotels. Various services and facilities can be housed or offered to the individuals in a hotel like guestrooms, fitness and spa facilities, meeting rooms, bars, restaurants, casinos, business centers, and parking facilities. As there is the evolution of the hotel restaurant in the marketplace, it is very important for hotels and restaurants to become more distinct and competitive in the marketplace for gaining a competitive advantage over others in the market. Various concepts and ideas have been utilized by several hotels and restaurants for increasing the hospitality experience and services provided to the consumers. The concept of home is observed to be widely used by various hotels for providing their services to the consumers and delivering their hospitality experience, which in turn, provides a competitive advantage to them (Geieregger Oehmichen, 2008). Hence, the utilization of the concept of home by the hotels can help in gaining competitive advantage and providing good services and experiences to the consumers. The concept of a home in the hotel industry: One of the most adherent developing sectors related to the economy in the present times is the hotel industry. It alone is emerging and multi-dollar enterprise. The hotel industry is the never boring, inspiring, as well as, the platform that offers various unlimited services, opportunities, and facilities to the consumers. Hotels tend to provide the precise and modern facilities, services, experiences to their guests. Guests are considered to be individuals who are on a vacation or tour and away from the homes. Thus, it has generated a feeling that the hotel industry should focus on providing the environment that is comfortable and homely to their guests (Kim, Palakurthi, Hancer, 2012). Service or Hospitality is the primary essence of the hotel industry .Guest service indicates attentiveness to the needs and requests of the guests. The good and effective quality service is the primary component for running a good hotel and this could be achieved through the creation of an environmen t and atmosphere for the guests that provides the feeling of being at home for the guests who are away from their homes (Lewinson Esnard, 2015). The primary focus of the hotel industry is to make their guests feel relaxed and comfortable while staying or residing in the accommodations provided by the hotels. To increase the hospitality experiences of the customers, various commercial hotels and others who provide accommodations are using the concept of home for offering their services and facilities. By using the concept of home, the hotels are successful in handling and providing the effective services to the customers and hence, establishing good relationships with the guests ("Current and Conventional Appraisal Trends in Hotels", 2016). Therefore, the incorporation of the concept of home by various commercial hotels and accommodation providers have increased the outcomes and services of the hospitality provided to their customers. Utilization of the concept of home by the hotels and other commercial providers: In the present times, a great change in the manner the individuals spend their vacations is observed. Nowadays, people want to spend the quality times with their families and friends while simultaneously they also want to explore the several tourist places and spots present across the world. Hence, as a result of this variation, the hotel industry throughout the globe is observed to have the unprecedented growth that also resulted in the enormous growth of the accommodation facilities by the hotel industries and other commercial providers. Comfortable hotels, as well as, accommodation facilities, have the major role in popularizing or generalizing any tourist destination (Mifflin Wilton, 2005). For instance, if the individual, who stays in the hotel and is far away from his/her home gets the opportunity of enjoying the same comfort and facilities as he gets at his home, then the individual will be bound to have an attachment to that particular place. While, on the other hand, if the individual ends up at a hotel or a place where the accommodation facilities or hotels are not satisfactory, the chances are that he/she might not return to that particular place. Hence, this is the major reason why certain accommodation facilities and hotels that provide the accommodation have utilized the concept of home in their offerings and shifted their primary focus on the provision of the maximum comfort and ease to their tourists and guests at a reasonable price. Various hotels have utilized the concept of the hotel by providing accommodations that are having extra benefits of having the library, study rooms, lounges, gym, cafes, personal bike, own cable TV, and Wifi. Additionally, many hotels and commercial providers are observed to provide the guests with the number of full-services that offers their guests to have access to the valet and laundry services, beauty salons, swimming pools, health spas, and fitness centers (Olsen Connolly, 2000). Extended-stay hotels are gen erally found to provide the guests with the accommodation that are fully equipped with the kitchens, have office space with telephone lines and computers, entertainment systems, fitness centers, and various other types of amenities. Thus, incorporating the concept of the home fully making the guests more comfortable and relaxed with the home alike environment (Geieregger Oehmichen, 2008). Moreover, all the suite hotels are found to offer a sitting or living room to the guests in addition to the provision of the bedroom in their accommodation facilities. Various hotels provide the services like housekeeping, laundry, and meals to their customers. While some of the hotels use the information technology for providing the home alike environment to their customers by using a wake-up system, providing video library, video cassette players, personal computers, multiple phone lines, voicemails, and electronic door locks. Hence, the incorporation of the concept of home by using various inno vation ideas, the hotels are successful in providing good services to their guests and make them feel living at a home away from home (Kam Fung So King, 2010). Hotels are designing in such a way to provide the residential feel to their guests and aim to provide a physical environment to their guests where they can feel secure, relaxed, comfortable, in short, they can have the feeling that they are at home. By designing their rooms to look like and provide the home-like environment as much possible as, the hotels and other accommodation providers are utilizing the architecture, as well as, design for adding value to the experience of their guests (Gyurcz-Nmeth, Horn, Friedrich, 2016). Recommendations Customizing the experience of services for hotel guests and tourists is another way of service innovation. By incorporating the concept of home, the hotel can positively impact the hospitality experiences of the guests. The major attribute, which is often looked by the travelers or guests in a hotel is the ability of the hotel to make their guests feel comfortable and relaxed while they are away from their homes on a trip. It has been observed that there increasingly, various hotels are utilizing the concept of home-like or residential design and style for accomplishing that task (Bluyssen, 2010). Moreover, the degree to which a hotel, both the public spaces, and guest rooms can make the tourist feel comfortable like at their homes have a great impact on the hotel experience of the guests. Hence, our organization can also widely use the concept of residential or home-like environment for increasing the hospitality experience of the guests. Various ways by which the organization can u tilize or incorporate the concept of hotel for the hospitality purposes include the idea of offering the furnishings that are rarely available in a hotel room like provision of the reclining lounge chair, television provided with a VCR, a big clock radio having a CD player with it, and provision of full-size appliances and utilities in the kitchen area to the guests. The bathrooms can be featured with the Italian marble floorings, and using the wallpapers that are typical or similar of the home design. Further, the concept called kid suites can also be employed, which is the room inside the room (Siguaw Enz, 1999). The main purpose of designing kid suite is mainly for the children, and it enables the vacationing parents accompanied by their children to have their privacy and own space, thus, providing the home-like environment. Further, the rooms can be provided with the personal computer, fax lines, multiple phone lines, and printers for the guests. The incorporation of the home l ike concept will increase the experience of the guests and will provide a competitive advantage to the organization over other in the market (Schall, 2003). Conclusion The main aim of the hotels and hospitality industry is to create an experience and environment for achieving a high level of customer satisfaction. The main focus is hence, on pleasing and providing the best services to the customer. Hence, for delivering and anticipating the needs of the guests during their stay at the hotel has propelled the hotel industry to provide the best and comfortable environment to their customers (Su, 2004). Therefore, the concept of home is widely incorporated by various hotels and other accommodation providers for making their guests feel satisfied and comfortable during their stays and to provide them the residential or homely environment. For enhancing the vacation experience of the guests, the guest and hotel rooms must be the source of the full entertainment, as well as, should be the sensory package, which is desired by the guests (Torres, Fu, Lehto, 2014). Thus, the concept of home is the innovative idea for creating a wonderful and meaningful hos pitality experience for the guests and in turn, increases the customer satisfaction. References Akova, O. Report on Case Study an Example by
Report on Case Study Within a given workplace environment it is every managers desire to get the best out his or her employee(s) have a job done in a desired manner. Its the efficiency as well as effectiveness of employees in terms of output that determine the overall output of an organization. However, it is not an easy task to achieve if the morale of employees is downward they do not feel motivated (Adair, 1996:2). Motivation can generally be defined as the innate forces within an individual that drives his or her and as such influences the path, intensity and his or her persistence toward voluntary behavior. Morale on the other hand refers to the level of confidence or an employee(s) level of optimism toward performing a task. An employee with high morale is a motivated one and vice versa. Need essay sample on "Report on Case Study" topic? We will write a custom essay sample specifically for you Proceed Motivation forms one of the essential component drivers in individual performance and behavior and as such is considered as an integral part of the engagement level of the said employee (Allison: 236). For any organization to be competitive one of the key indicators is normally an engaged workforce however, it is not easy to motivate an employee rather it is a near impossibility. All that is possible is how to influence the motivation of an employee. The search to have a motivated workforce that is very engaged in its work has become very challenging indeed. There seems to be a lack of understanding of how employers can motivate their staff. This paper thus concerns itself with the task of improving motivation and morale. It draws relevance from various researches while also taking into consideration a case study and answering questions posed about motivation. Firstly, I will discuss the various individual characteristics that are likely to influence the behavior of a member of staff. For instance, the level of self-esteem would be influential on the behavior of staff. Self-esteem is one of the indicators that would impact on the performance as well as behavior of a staff member. Self esteem can be defined generally as the amount of value an individual attaches or rather places on themselves. There are two kinds of self-esteem; Low and high self esteem. A high self-esteem staff is one who places a lot of value on him or herself, while a person with low self esteem place or attaches very little on him or herself. It is usually not very easy and at certain times impossible for any individual to remain unmoved and indifferent to information that has a bearing on their self-esteem. Instances of a decrease or increase of the level of self-esteem have resulting emotional reactions. These resulting strong emotional reactions may cause a staff member to either be receptive or very unreceptive to others and might to a certain degree affect their level of performance within the workplace. Besides, the fluctuations in the level of self-esteem may coincide with success or failures. Employees with a high self esteem are likely to give better output in terms of job done but may also be affected.. Self esteem may also make employees develop social groups that would hinder effective interaction between employees. The other individual characteristic that will definitely affect behaviors of staff within a given workplace is that of attitude. Attitude can basically be defined as the hypothetical construct representing a persons preference and/dislikes for a particular thing. There are three kinds of attitude; positive, neutral and negative. In certain instances people can become very ambivalent about objects that they are neither positive nor negative about the particular item. A persons attitude is born out of his or her personal judgment of a situation, place or thing. A negative attitude would be a hindrance to good performance level. Another characteristic that would influence the behaviors of staff member is the social behavior. There are basically two types of social behavior i.e. pro-social or antisocial. The pro-social employee is able to interact freely and communicate effectively with the rest while an anti-social one will not. It is of great importance for an employer to have a clearer understanding of his or her employees as well as perception so as to be able to influence their motivation. This is because human beings are different and their needs and expectations vary like their personalities. Considering Maslow needs hierarchy theory, every individual is triggered virtually by more than just needs but rather these needs come at varying hierarchy with vary effect on the individuals particular behavior. According to him, the hierarchy model theory pursues a holistic path, with the idea of merger the long list of needs into five fundamental categories of hierarchy The psychological needs in this case include such things like water, air, food shelter among many others and are usually at the base of the pyramid. However, individuals are different and due to the difference in personality would mean that there would b e differences of the individuals preferred physiological needs in order to priority would be important. Since you might want to promote someone by giving him or her physiological need she does not prefer. The next level is that of safety needs which involves an individuals desire to be in secure and stable environment with the absence of pain, illness or threat to his or her life. According to Maslow, human beings are motivated by various needs but the origin is usually the lowest unsatisfied need at that particular ((McShane, 2007:100). At the initial stage the physiological needs are to be first satisfied to as to move up the hierarchy. This means that the physiological needs do then become the primary motivator to every employee. It is then of great importance for every human resource management/employer to understand to help them satisfy their primary needs that would be primarily motivate them toward high level of performance. Even though it is not always easy for people to always this needs hierarchical theory model in satisfaction of needs, it however presents a good case to launch form. For instance, the realization that one would actually self actualize even in a place considered insecure can offer better explanation to employers to help them understand the various employees within their workplace so as to get the best out of them in order to optimize their potential and increase productivity. Moreover, it can take like forever for one to satisfy his or her needs and the needs keep on changing with time meaning without a better understanding as well as perception it is not possible to influence the level of motivation. The third aspect of the article that would tackle involves the values that would affect productivity as well as satisfaction (Allison: 237). In essence the values that affect the level of productivity are usually directly or indirectly with the management but effectively with the employees. A highly motivated employee would most likely give his or her best to help push up the level of production. Equally an employee with high morale would be driven to exert his or her effort to ensure that the task assigned to him or she is effectively and efficiently performed. On the other hand, when these two aspects are missing it is not possible for the employees to give their best. When it comes to the level of satisfaction there are two basic values that are related to satisfaction are expectation as well as needs of an employee. Expectation can be defined as the value of any opportunity, which a person attaches to something and is dependent on some contingent event. According to a theory on expectation the basis of interest is effort, a persons real exertion of energy. This theory states that the action of an individual in a given workplace is greatly dependent on the expectation that an act will result in an outcome and on the attractiveness of the outcome to the given individual (McShane, 2007:89). This theory suggests that an employees motivation is usually influenced by all these factors of effort-to-performance expectancy, outcome valence and preference to outcome expectancy. In the event that any of these components weakens, so does the level of satisfaction of the individual, which in effect results in depleted level of motivation. On the other hand needs are necessities that an individual requires to live a sustainable life. A persons needs are buttressed through the process of learning especially during childhood, parental styles and the social norms. As was put forward by one psychologist known as David McClelland there are various needs which include; need for achievement, need for affiliation, need for power among others. Individuals who have a strong desire to achieve always want to attend reasonably challenging tasks through their individual effort. This various needs affect people in various ways, as an individual would only be satisfied if for instance his need for affiliation, power or achievement is fulfilled. Both needs and expectations have a great bearing on the level of productivity in an organization. When individual needs as well as expectation are used they tend to be very responsive and feel more motivated tasks given to them thereby increasing their level of productivity, which translates to high level of production for the organization, by its employees. The fourth question that I will discuss borders on the various basic motivation concepts that are normally considered relevant to every organization. According to Fredrick Hezberg there are theories of motivation; hygiene theory and motivation theory. In his argument to advance motivational theory, they involve what are referred to as the hygiene factors that encompass the work as well as organizational environment. Hygiene factors cover the organization, the policies and the administration of eh company, the type of supervision, which encompasses, leadership and management that employees perceive while at the work place. Additionally, such aspects like salary and wages, status of the employee within the organization, job security, the prevailing conditions at work as well as interpersonal relations between the management and the rest of the workforce (employees). These do not necessitate employee motivation, but their essence will surely lead to a high level of dissatisfaction of th e employee. The other aspects include; achievement, recognition, personal growth or advancement and interest in job. In his prospective Hezberg argued that both the two approaches must be carried out simultaneously so as to alter the aim of employee motivation. In effect he suggests that employees ought to be treated in the best way possible to limit the level of dissatisfaction. Thus, motivation is about inducing employees to move in a certain way toward goal specifically stated by the organization. The goals as well as the motivation must be in tandem with the corporate policy of the organization. They must be designed to favor the situation and to the company. When an employee talks about personal growth he or she is looking for the chance to progress within the social, economical, spiritual as well as political growth. When the organization offers employees the chance to advance, like for instance to enter into a managerial position, they are likely to work hard. When employees feel their job is safe and are comfortable with the wages they get and consider their status as well as salary as fair they are likely to have high morale. In instances where employees make employees feel as partners in the organization. For instances, the management shares successes as well as the failures and involves the employees in decision they would feel proud and motivated. Even though money seems to b e the greatest motivator there are other aspects that cannot be ignored. Semlers approach as concerns seems to work a little bit. For fact he is incorporated a few aspects of employee motivation in his management style. For instance, in this case he motivates employees by offering their autonomy in decision-making. This has a two-fold effect one, the employees feel they own the company and as such anybody who owns something will always want the best for it. It means every decision the employees make should be in the interest of the company. However, the level of autonomy that he is offered is too much as the employees run and make virtually every decision. What he should do is first to reverse the system by having representatives of employees or doing regular sampling on the kind of policies the employees want formulated then discuss them at board level. If semler really wants to uncover gold then he needs to try other approaches and integrate them with his. Secondly, instead of just leaving the entire decision making process to the employees and overturning earlier discussions made by employees he should offer the employees a chance to move up in the rank to management level. For one right now the employees might not really want to grow, since there might not be any need if the managers can be overturned and the employees becoming their supervisors. Taking into consideration theory X which believes that any given set up is inherently distasteful and that people are equally inherently lazy and unambitious and then with theory Y where it is believed that everyone enjoys working, it is as natural as play, which Semco seems to be applying. Theory Y is very good on its own but something you might find some employees who are inherently lazy so some fear needs to be instilled in their either through supervision or nay other such measure. The management of Semco can as well employ the theory of motivation based on an entrepreneur mindset. This theory would go beyond merely sharing profits and stock option with them. It encompasses the management instilling the feeling that they are partners and not just employees. Currently, the autonomy given the employees may not be enough, the management must demonstrate leadership and be involved in decision making too. Finally, the management needs to have a better understanding of every employee within the workplace as some of them may have needs and expectation beyond mere salary likes. The effect of employees raising their own salaries may also not work. For example, the employees may be too scared of raising the salary to a satisfactory level as their accounts would be reviewed later, additionally; they might award themselves salaries they do not deserve. The salaries should be managed independently but the management needs to receive recommendation from the employees, which they will look into and make considerations. Conclusion Employee motivation remains a very significant aspect of management that any successful business or organization cannot just wish away. However, there is no single definite way to motivate employees, but rather a combination of many process. In essence any employer or manger cannot just pick on one single theory and expect to be very successful it may work for sometime and fail. He must first begin with understanding his/her employee(s). Anyhow, one of the most effective approaches would be hygiene theory approach, as it encompasses various aspects of employee motivation. Globalization is Good Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Globalization is Good - Essay Example According to him there are three major arguments namely network society, informational capitalism and the development of contemporary global politics acts as a unifying thread for globalization. His trilogy works on the interaction of these three forces leading to globalization. It is this informational and technological revolution that led to network society where all society structure and activities are based on electronically processes information (Castells, 1998). This network society along with informational capitalism is the globalization system, which gives rise to globalized networks in the form of enterprises and political movements etc. This has only been made possible with the advancement information and communication technology (ICT). This ICT revolution has seeped in all aspects of our society and the economy and is responsible for the current phase of globalization. According to him the changes in economic policy resulting in liberalization and deregulation of economy i s also made possible due to changes in ICT (Castells, 2000). It provided the technological capacity to the system to work as a single global unit. Castellââ¬â¢s view is different from Giddenââ¬â¢s on globalization who talks about globalization in totality whereas Castellââ¬â¢s emphasizes on the transformation to global society and the leading factors. According to Castells this informational capitalism is quite unique in its form and shape from the earlier forms of market society. it is argued that this form emerged in the wake of failure of capitalism in the 70ââ¬â¢s due to declining profits, burgeoning social cost, rising standards of living and the post war settlements which led to full... It has entered into every sphere of our life, including economy, politics, society etc. Society network has led to informational capitalism and has influenced the global economy. This globalization has not only been limited to economy and business it has changed the concept of nationality and identity as well. The new concept is of gl obal citizenship that transcends national boundaries. The impact of globalization has generally been positive although it has led to more ethnic violence in some cases, but it is argued that such violence and hatred can also be resolved by introducing globalization at the grass root level. Globalization has also created some disruptions in the concept of jurisdiction and sovereignty but these problems can be resolved with appropriate legal measures. Hence generally globalization has been inevitable but good.

Brand Management Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words
Brand Management - Coursework Example Overall branding is viewed as a differentiated strategy through which the customers can easily distinguish the features of a product from that of similar products offered by other marketers. It is also viewed as a tool used by the marketers to position the products with a reliable image of quality and values to make certain the growth of a recurring fondness by the consumer. That is why it is often said that products are something which is manufactured in the factories. Brands are something developed in the minds of the customers; and, hence, the customers do not buy the product; customers actually buy the brand. From the discussion it is quite evident that in order to gain a competitive position in the market it would be important for the marketers to develop a strong brand. However, developing a strong brand is not an isolated approach; rather it is a holistic one which includes a combination of marketing activities. The present study has been conducted in lieu to critically analyz e various aspects related to a brand. The brand chosen happens to the largest coffee chain in the world, Starbucks. During the course of study various elements of the brand, the present branding strategy of the company, the marketing and communications strategy of the company as well as the key factors related to the brand equity of the brand has been analyzed by using various analytical and marketing tools and models. Back ground of the brand By Origin Starbucks is an American coffee chain which has now become the largest coffee chain in the world and the one of most popular global brands. The company began its journey in 1971. The headquarters of the company is located in Seattle, US. The company has 20,891 stores in sixty two countries. Brand Elements Brand elements are a set of elements that are utilized by a brand to develop a unique position in the minds of the consumers. Brand elements play an instrumental role in creating brand identity. Creation of a unique brand identity is quite important as it helps the marketer to define how brands plan to leverage the brand to reach the predefined corporate vision; to support to corporate values and achieve the corporate vision. Ultimately it helps the company to achieve brand loyalty and equity (Keller, 2012, p.399). One of the key brand elements of Starbucks has been the logo of the company; the first logo of the company was developed in the year 1971. The next was built in the year 1987. The next logo was built in the year 1992. The present logo is almost the same as the one built in the year 1992. The star of the logo represents the company that provides high quality offerings and has been living up to the expectations of the customers for quite a long time. Another key element of the brand would be the packaging of the products (Arvidsson, 2006, p. 201) The packaging of the cups are simple and yet attractive. One of the key features of is the cups are recyclable (Elliott and Percy, 2007, p. 291). Through such brand elements the Starbucks

Broadsheet and Tabloid Comparison Essay Example for Free
Broadsheet and Tabloid Comparison Essay The media is undoubtedly one of the most influential and powerful force within our society today. Its means of mass communication has the ability to report news in a way which often affects and distorts a persons opinion and interpretation of a certain story. Yet its importance in our society is immeasurable, since its the main way of informing the public of national and international events. The purpose of this essay is to examine and analyse how two contrasting newspapers a broadsheet and a tabloid report the news. We often view the broadsheet as having higher status than the tabloid as it is more serious, sophisticated and elaborate. The tabloid in contrast is dominated by sensational stories. I would be scrutinizing The Daily Mirror, a typical tabloid paper and The Independent which is the conventional broadsheet paper. The story in question which both newspapers are narrating concerns the fatal murder of Yetunde Price, sister of the famous tennis players Venus and Serena Williams. Different papers frequently vary the way news is portrayed in order to engage and captivate different audiences, yet their primary purpose is to inform and entertain. The Daily Mirror is likely to entice those who are less well educated and classified as Social class III, IV and V in the Registrar Generals Scale the working class. Therefore the stories that attract them are likely to concern violence, showbiz and sporting events, stories which are glamourised. This is shown by the way how Yetunde Prices death was highlighted by the fact that her sisters were distinguished tennis players and also the article was contextualised to feed the readers curiosity. The Independent is aimed at the more conservative, middle classes who are categorized as Social class I and II in the Registrar-Generals Scale. They are more likely to have had an extensive education and prefer upmarket newspapers. Yet it is much more complicated than this: both articles would have not existed if not for the prominent status of Yetundes sisters, and so The Independent has defied the stereotypes of a broadsheet by focusing more on her glamourous and famous sisters. It is often thought that the newspaper influences the reader, yet the readers themselves influence the way news is reported as the newspapers have to adapt their stories to the readers taste in order to attract their attention. The style of The Daily Mirror is one which is explicitly written, containing many gr aphic, vivid information on the deathly event, undoubtedly in order to sensationalise Yetundes untimely demise as well as reveal the great dissimilarity between her life and her sisters. The article begins by presenting Venus and Serenas wealth and prestige: they had the fame, the fear and the bodyguards, this use of triplets and alliteration not only emphasis their greatness but is also an attention grabbing introduction, inveigling the reader to read further. It then goes on to mention the sad story of their shy sister so that the reader may understand the significance of this story. The details then becomes more disturbing and horrific, describing plainly the fusillade of shoots, how Yetunde was lying in blood and hit in the chest. Such emotive descriptions may be sickening but the writers agenda in a tabloid newspaper is to focus on the blood and the gore in order to make it more realistic for the reader. The varied sentence structure also contribute to the glamourised effect. The article from The Independent begins with having short sentence structure which goes straight into the story, capturing the readers attention, Yet the information given are uncertain and rather vague, using phrases such as: perhaps, no one yet knows and but for some reason. This combines the facts with an element of mystery and so it creates suspense and stirs the readers inquisitiveness. The Independents style is based on the conventions of a fairytale story genre and it is centred on the Williams sisters rise to power. Yet, like all fairytales there is the feature of tragedy and sadly in this particular story, the tragedy triumphs. Yetunde is the victim of this tragedy yet the article concentrates more on the power pair sisters and the glitz and the glamour of countless tournament trophies, of commercial endorsement, of fashion lines. The writers device on using alliteration and anaphora again gives greater impact and excites the reader. It is also part of the fairytale style narrative which prevails throughout the article. The article is also not as harsh and blunt as The Daily Mirror and contains a lot of euphemism. Apart from the euphemistic descriptions of her final hours, Yetunde is little mentioned in comparison to her sisters in The Independent. This is due to the fact that she is virtually unknown and so the writer does not want to lose the readers attention. However, the reader may then come to view fame, wealth and prestige is more important then the main story. There is undeniably a disproportionate focus on the more admired of the Williams sisters, which centres on their background, upraising and lifestyle that it overshadows the main story. Little of the article is dedicated to Yetunde as there is hardly any mention of her upbringing and characteristics. The pictures creates the impression of all the sisters close bond which emphasis their grief over the loss of Yetunde. Despite of this, Yetunde herself is not central figure of the picture. She is instead placed on the far left and she is facing away from her sisters. The edit or may have this particular image because of her posture and the sombre clothes she is wearing, perphaps as a sign of her approaching demise. The Independent contains some of the important facts on how Yetunde was killed and provides only one witness account. The Daily Mirror contains more witness accounts and expert opinions on the case, which gives a more comprehensive view of the case. Yetunde is also given more attention and the text explores thoroughly the cause of her death by having more of these witness accounts so that it conveys a more striking and stirring effect. As well as this, The Mirror focus more on the the area and the environment the Williams sisters were brought up in, with a small section at the end dedicated to exposing the terrible history of the notorious Crompton district. There is also more background knowledge of their lives, yet it tends to intrude into their private lives as the details given are very personal. The pictures include one of the scene of the crime, which is very much like a scene from a Hollywood film and a picture of the weapon used so that the reader may feel more disturbed at the killing yet inclined to read on. The biggest picture shows Yetunde and her sister Serena attending a glittering awa rd ceremony which again dramatise the story. The striking headline of The Daily Mirror, Killed With AK47 is not only blunt but written in capital letters and spread across the page so that it conveys shock to the reader. The smaller headings above and beneathe it is a brief explanation of what happen yet it creates an element of suspense. The Stars Sister is Murdered in particular outlines the nature of the story so the reader would expect a lot of sensationalism. The main picture of Yetunde and Serena is in fact bigger than the the text itself but it has been enlarged so that the reader would think that Yetunde herself is a celebrity and raises the importance of the article. The other pictures are placed on the left side of the main image so the reader could see the contrast between them, and so come to understand the harsh reality of Yetunde life. The small section at the end has the heading Streets of Fear which is a metaphor and conveys to the reader the true nature of the district they were brought up in. The Independent shows none of these pictures of Crompton but instead has only one picture which is the same size of the text, so there is less sensationalism. The article itself is half the siz e of The Mirror due to lack of information so the reader may come to view this story as insignificant. It is also placed on page 11 as opposed to the tabloid which placed it on page 4 and 5, so here there is not as much hype around the story. The headlines are less blunt and there is also the use of italics on the words: fairytale, close-knit family and grief which sways the readers emotions. As I have analysized above, the two newspaper articles shows contrasting representations of the same story. The Mirror with its tendency to exaggerate the stories, presents this article with the features of fame, glamour and explicit descriptions. The editor is obviously aware of the fact that sensationalism sells. The Independent, despite its lack of information, has actually taken the more dignified approach by showing respect for the deceased with going into too much information the gory details. It could be argued that The Mirror is rather inappropiate in immorally cashing in on Yetundes death, yet their story is in the readers interest since not only is Yetunde mentioned more but it covers many aspects of her life and personality in tribute to her. Whereas the editors motive in presenting the article the way it does in The Indep endent might be in conflict with the reader as they are likely to want more information on Yetunde and the nature of her horrific death instead of Serena and Venus. In our society today, we as the audience are becoming increasingly concerned, bordering on obsessiveness, with the lives of the rich and the famous. The media understands and encourages our curiosity by publicising more and more stories on celebrities. This could affect the quality of the news we consume, especially in tabloids, where instead of presenting the more serious stories, we are swamped with excessive news on the famous.

The Attachment Theory Essay -- Psychology, Interpersonal Relationship
The Attachment theory is a psychological, ethological and evolutionary theory that gives a descriptive and explanatory framework of understanding interpersonal relationship between human beings. Presented by John Bowlby, the important tenet of this theory is that an infant needs to develop a relationship with at least one primary caregiver for social and emotional development to progress generally. The idea of attachment theory is that infants become attached to adults who are sensitive and responsive in social relationships with them, and who remain consistent caregivers for some months during the period of early six months to two/three years of age. In the early days Bowlby was criticized by academic psychologists and also ostracized by the psychoanalytic community but, attachment theory has become a dominant approach in understanding social development and giving rise of empirical research into the formation of childrenââ¬â¢s close relationships. The child that is observed for this paper is my nephew aged 5 years. He is currently in grade 1 possessing few characteristics of anxious ambivalent (discussed in history) child. History After graduating from the University of Cambridge in 1928, Bowlby performed volunteer work at a school for disturbed children while reconsidering his career goals. His experiences with two children at the school set his professional life on course. One was a very isolated, remote, affectionless teenager who had been expelled from his previous school for theft and had had no stable mother figure. The second child was an anxious boy of 7 or 8 who trailed Bowlby around and who was known as his shadow (Ainsworth, 1974). Persuaded by this experience of the effects of early family relationshi... ...hown that early childhood attachment is necessary for the healthy development of child. Children are needed to have a sense of security so that they can grow up to be healthy and productive adults but if there is lack of attachment with them, they are at the higher rate of risk of developing social, emotional or behavioral problems in childhood or adolescent. Insecure attachment has been developed because the primary caregiver (mother) had not consistently responded to him in warm, affectionate, loving, dependable and sensitive way. Such babies are more likely to develop a mental representation of world as hostile or uncaring leading them to many psychological disorders. Teenagers who have not developed secure attachment tends to be open to depression and anxiety and they are more likely to get involved in drug abuse and antisocial/sexual activities. (Doyle, 2000)

Advanced International Trade
In any economy where there exists free mobility of labor force across borders ,labor policies are bound to spill over from one country to another thus will have an impact on international trade. Thus international trade is mostly restricted to goods and services more than to factors of production. In such a case then goods and services can serve as substitutes to factors of production by importing goods and services produced by such factors. In an open economy, the welfare gains from domestic labor market exports will exceed the share of goods exported.à If prices increase for goods the owners of factor of production responsible will benefit in real terms while owners of the other factors will likely push for opposing agendas on controls of mobility of labor across borders. An increase in capital will otherwise benefit both owners of capital and labor. The first impact would be to increase the amount of untrained labor in fish production in home country. An increased unskilled labor is expected to be more than the amount of capital available.Owing to the fixed nature of capital, there is expected decreasing returns to scale. But since the untrained labor is mobile within the industries, they are going to move from one industry to another depending on the wage differentials. The relative price of fish is expected to go down in home country due to the availability of cheap labour.Accordingly; the real wage of the unskilled labor will decrease owing to the powers of demand and supply of labor in the fish industry. The real wages paid to the skilled workers will depend on the output of the economy. As more unskilled labor flow in a country, output will not be affected since it uses more of skilled labor than unskilled labor, what is going to happen is decreasing returns to scale on unskilled labor and this will lead to more costs than benefits hence decrease the real wages of the skilled labor. The production of computer chips will be adversely affected since unskille d labor will flow from fish production to computer chips production. With capital and skilled labor fixed, then the production can be increased only by increasing the amount of capital and skilled labor in the country, thefore countryââ¬â¢s output is bound to decrease especially in computer chips production and also to some extend on fish production.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (GMCR) started as a small cafà © in Waitsfield, Vermont in the year of 1981. It was in 1993 that the company went public and acquired the early phase of Keurig Incorporated Inc, and then completed the acquisition in 2006. (Unknown.( 2004). According to GMCRââ¬â¢s website ââ¬Å"Today, GMCR is recognized as a leader in specialty coffee and coffee makers, and acknowledged for its award-winning coffees, innovative brewing technology, and environmentally and socially responsible business practices.â⬠((Unknown.( 2004). The first being specialty coffee which includes Green Mountain Coffee, Tullyââ¬â¢s Coffee, Diedrich Coffee, and Coffee People. The 2nd unit is the Keurig business unit, which created the signal cup brewing system. The 3rd and final is the GMCR Canada. In 2011 net sales were 2,650.9 million which was up 95% over fiscal 2010. (http://investor.gmcr.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=622448) The acquisition of Van Houtte which took place in December, 2010 in addition to the partnership with Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts with the K-cups option of their coffee has helped add over 321.4 million to the net sales in 2011. (http://investor.gmce.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=622448) GMCR has seen accelerated growth over the last couple of years due to its Keurig single cup brewing system and the K-cups that go along with it. Below is the breakout for the 2011 Fiscal Financial Review provided by (http://investor.gmcr.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=622448). 2011 2010 $ Increase SWOT ANALYSIS StrengthsWeakness S1-Strong reputation with itââ¬â¢s customersW1- Keurig single-cup brewers all made by one manufacture S2-AcquisitionsW2-Large % sales from one area of the business (K-cups & brewers) S3-Marketing W3-Forecasting due to such overnight success OpportunitiesThreats O1- Increase marketing to the age group of 40 and older T1- Risk of patents expiring allowing other competitors into the market O2-Increase marketing in the Supermarket locationsT2- Keurig single-cup brewers all made by one manufacture O3- Introduce other manufacturesT3-Product recalls & product liability T4- Coffee availability ANALYSIS VIA PORTERââ¬â¢S FIVE FORCES MODEL The threat of new entrantsThe bargaining power of buyersThe bargaining power of suppliers The competition of this type of product & service because of cost overhead would need to come from an already known company or a company that becomes successful after the patients expire that GMCR hold. Strong threatOver time as patients expire buyers will have bargaining power. ThreatGMCR has one manufacuting for the K-cups and brewing systems which resides in China. Weakness The threat of substitute product and servicesThe intensity of rivalry among competitors in an industry The threat of substitution is high. ThreatAlthough there are other companies that try to offer the same service, GMCR is at the top of the coffee industry for this type of service. Strength STRATEGY USED GMCR is using a differentiation strategy by offering a different way for the consumer to enjoy specialized coffees, teas, hot chocolate, and other hot beverages in their own homes, workplaces, and hotels at an overall lower cost than coffee houses. They are able to do this by taking the lead in the market due to their strengths in product development, licensing agreements with partners, and on-going successful acquisitions. GMCR growth through their acquisition strategy and their licensing agreements have been the biggest contributors to their growth. In 1998 when Keurig launched its first single- cup brewer for the office environment GMCR was there to partner with. (Dess,G, Lumpkin, G. & Eisner, A.(2012). Strategic Management (6e). Boston: McGraw-Hill Irwin.) From that point on it just continued whether it be the agreement with Starbucks in 2011 or the agreement with Dunkin Donuts in that same year to sell K-cupââ¬â¢s with both Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts coffee they continue to thrive in the market. If we look at Porterââ¬â¢s generic strategies that our text talks of we can identify the following. â⬠¢Differentiation ââ¬â The product and service that GMCR brings to the market is the best value for price and quality. â⬠¢Focus strategy ââ¬â The acquisitions and licensing agreements that GMCR has been able to focus on continues to allow success to the buyer markets and geographic markets. â⬠¢Overall cost leadership ââ¬â GMCR is able to keep cost low because of the amount of product they supply to the customer without much competition. THE ISSUES AND CHALLENGES FACING THIS COMPANY I think for now GMCR will continue to have competitive advantage. GMCR should be able to accomplish this by continuing to offer their K-cups and brewing systems at the same competitive price to the same type of customer. Although patents are ready to expire and more of the product and service will be able to join the market, I feel that GMCR with their past record of new product innovation will continue to strive in the coffee market and lead the way for competitors to follow. COURSE OF ACTION RECOMMENDED It seems to be that because of the success of Keurig & K-cups that GMCR has put all their eggs in one basket without much focus on the rest of their products. We can see this in both the 2010 and 2011 earnings (http://investor.gmcr.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=622448). With patents becoming expired in the near future by recommendation would be that GMCR starts to focus on the other products that they sell or that they start to work on the next great product for the coffee industry. My fear is once patents expire that you may see some of the larger distributers try to come into the Market and possible succeed if there able to produce the same product at a lower cost. OPINION My opinion of the case study is first I had no idea that GMCR was such a large company. I donââ¬â¢t drink coffee but am a tea drinker and I guess I just didnââ¬â¢t pay much attention to the marketing and advertising . Iââ¬â¢m sure they would like to hear this feedback, it may give them a clue as to where the marketing needs to go during the next phase. With that being said this company to me shows the true meaning of great business leadership and a successful supply chain and focus strategy. During the research I even found a joint venture with 3M the company I work with. It seems that 3M helped GMCR develop a coffee filter. This was a very enjoyable case study and it showed a great example of how to be successful in my opinion. References Dess, G., Lumpkin, G. & Eisner, A. (2012). Strategic Management (6e). Divorce and family deterioration essays My mother was a loving housewife. With a great deal of patience, she diligently carried the weight of our needs on her strong shoulders. Like most women of her time it was the social norm for the husband to be the breadwinner and for the wife to take care of the home. These roles have changed over the years with the increased involvement of married women in the work force. The effects of a married womens employment can have adverse consequences that has lead to a rise in divorce and deterioration of the family household. Fighting for ones marriage was strongly encouraged in the past. Divorce was generally frowned upon like a sickness. Views regarding divorce have changed over the years. I can remember the advice my grandmother would give my mom whenever marital distraught threatened her life. She would tell mom, Hes your husband and you need to work things out! The ease of filing for divorce has become the immediate quick fix to the problems were facing today. My first marriage ended this way. It was so easy; my ex-wife simply did most of her filing over the internet. Laws have been set in place to make this process easier. For example, in the state of Florida its called Simplified Dissolution of Marriage. Unfortunately, divorce has become an accepted event in our society. Can we afford to ignore these factors? We should seriously consider the relationship between a working wifes financial independence and the availability to these simplified divorce procedures. Changes in economic conditions have shifted the emphasis from togetherness to an emphasis on individuality (Elkind, 1994). Married working women are less financially dependent of their husbands. I believe the traditional housewife was almost forced to make her marriage work. We can ask ourselves if an employed mother would work harder at saving her marriage than a fina ...

Reagan and the 1983 Marines Barracks Massacre in Beirut
Reagan and the 1983 Marines Barracks Massacre in Beirut In 2002, the Presidential Oral History Program at the University of Virginiaââ¬â¢s Miller Center of Public Affairs interviewed Caspar Weinberger about the six years (1981-1987) he spent as Ronald Reaganââ¬â¢s Secretary of Defense. Stephen Knott, the interviewer, asked him about the bombing of the U.S. Marines barracks in Beirut on Oct. 23, 1983, which killed 241 Marines. Hereââ¬â¢s his answer: Weinberger: Well, thatââ¬â¢s one of my saddest memories. I was not persuasive enough to persuade the President that the Marines were there on an impossible mission. They were very lightly armed. They were not permitted to take the high ground in front of them or the flanks on either side. They had no mission except to sit at the airport, which is just like sitting in a bullââ¬â¢s eye. Theoretically, their presence was supposed to support the idea of disengagement and ultimate peace. I said, ââ¬Å"Theyââ¬â¢re in a position of extraordinary danger. They have no mission. They have no capability of carrying out a mission, and theyââ¬â¢re terribly vulnerable.â⬠It didnââ¬â¢t take any gift of prophecy or anything to see how vulnerable they were. When that horrible tragedy came, why, as I say, I took it very personally and still feel responsible in not having been persuasive enough to overcome the arguments that ââ¬Å"Marines donââ¬â¢t cut and run,â⬠and ââ¬Å"We canââ¬â¢t leave because weââ¬â¢re there,â⬠and all of that. I begged the President at least to pull them back and put them back on their transports as a more defensible position. That ultimately, of course, was done after the tragedy. Knott also asked Weinberger about ââ¬Å"the impact that the tragedy had on President Reagan.â⬠Weinberger: Well, it was very, very marked, there was no question about it. And it couldnââ¬â¢t have come at a worse time. We were planning that very weekend for the actions in Grenada to overcome the anarchy that was down there and the potential seizure of American students, and all the memories of the Iranian hostages. We had planned that for Monday morning, and this terrible event occurred on Saturday night. Yes, it had a very deep effect. We talked a few minutes ago about the strategic defense. One of the other things that had a tremendous effect on him was the necessity of playing these war games and rehearsing, in which we went over the role of the President. The standard scenario was that ââ¬Å"the Soviets had launched a missile. You have eighteen minutes, Mr. President. What are we going to do?â⬠He said, ââ¬Å"Almost any target we attack will have huge collateral damage.â⬠Collateral damage is the polite way of phrasing the number of innocent women and children who are killed because youââ¬â¢re engaging in a war, and it was up in the hundreds of thousands. That is one of the things, I think, that convinced him that we not only had to have a strategic defense, but we should offer to share it. That was another of the things that was quite unusual about our acquiring strategic defense, and which now seems largely forgotten. When we got it, we said he would share it with the world, so as to render all of these weapons useless. He insisted on that kind of proposal. And as it turned out, with this cold war ending and all, it didnââ¬â¢t become necessary. One thing that disappointed him most was the reaction of the academic and the so-called defense expert community to this proposal. They were horrified. They threw up their hands. It was worse than talking about evil empire. Here you were undermining the years and years of academic discipline that you shouldnââ¬â¢t have any defense. He said he simply did not want to trust the future of the world to philosophic assumptions. And all the evidence was that the Soviets were preparing for a nuclear war. They had these huge underground cities and underground communications. They were setting up environments in which they could live for a long time and keep their command and control communications capabilities. But people didnââ¬â¢t want to believe that and therefore didnââ¬â¢t believe it. Read the full interview at the Miller Center for Public Affairs.

First Across The Rhine Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
First Across The Rhine - Essay Example A lot of action-packed, tactical, militarily strategic, and heroic stories fill war movies. Rarely are the actual tasks and skills of non-combatants were featured. This paper will try to present the roles of engineers and their team during the war using mainly the book by Col David E. Pergin and war writer Eric Hammel (1994) First Across the Rhine: The 291st Engineer Combat Battalion in France. The immediate challenges during their landing in the war zone were: grave reservations of the standard in the organization as off-the-shelf engineer combat battalion inevitable combat losses that could remove key people with essential skills or unique training from the ranks (Pergrin and Hammel, 1989, 17). To address this immediate concerns, Pergrinââ¬â¢s solution was to cross-train as many officers and troops as possible in whatever time was left. He noted that, ââ¬Å"The training directives established minimum, not maximum, standards (Pergrin and Hammel, 1989, 17). ... After the cross training, every member of the squad was a qualified: Rifleman for .30-caliber M2 carbines for NCOs and .30-caliber M1 Garand rifles To operate the squadââ¬â¢s .30 caliber machine gun and bazooka (2.35 inch rocket launcher) To lay, detect, and clear mines To operate bulldozers, dump trucks, chain saws, picks, shovels, jackhammers and other tools Read maps (most of them). Meanwhile, Pergin also ensured that the squad leader and his assistant were able to use radio and field telephone equipment; carried manuals on the three main types of bridges with which they expected to work ââ¬â Bailey, timber trestle, and pontoon; use proper combat engineer tactics to stop or delay enemy (Pergrin and Hammel, 1989, 19). Each line platoon was equipped with: Bulldozer, weapons carrier, 4-ton man-hauling truck with a .50 caliber machine gun, a number of 2 & ? ton dump trucks for hauling equipment and material, own motor pool staffed by mechanics charged with maintaining all the w heeled and tracked equipment and vehicles, weapons sergeant and supply sergeant as overseers of small section of specialists. Pergin noted that the main purpose was ââ¬Å"to save lives in the battle areas by using the many skills and the fruits of their rigorous training,â⬠(Pergin and Hammel, 1989, 27). The following were exemplified and exercised by the team members: Stress small-unit operations using combat-engineering equipment; Facilitate movement of tanks in support of the attacking infantry; Clear mines rapidly; Police and patrol the area up to the front to provide vital information to the decision-makers up the chain of command. All their tasks were conducted through strategies as follows: 1. led the paratroopers through the

Leadership Reflection Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Leadership Reflection - Research Paper Example Transformational leadership defines an influence that is ââ¬Å"developing and transformingâ⬠to the target group. Its core objective is to empower people and to motivate them towards exploring their developed potentials (Dubrin, 2012, p. 83). The leadership style is further based on assumptions that that people express their allegiance to those who inspire them and that empowerment and motivation is a suitable strategy to success (Rose, n.d). One of the characteristics of the leadership style is the leaderââ¬â¢s development of awareness among the led group. This involves informing the people of their environment, their potential rewards, and the worth in the rewards. A transformational leader also develops a collective mentality among people as opposed to individualism. The leader also assists people to derive self-fulfillment in their engagements and to understand dynamism in the environment, factors that facilitate the peopleââ¬â¢s desire to make necessary changes. The type of leader also commits to high achievements and ensures a developed trust between him or her and the led population besides exhibiting such traits as charisma, ââ¬Å"emotional intelligence,â⬠and support to their followers (Dubrin, 2012, p. 86). The relationship between the leadership style and the personality traits has further been empirically established with more significant features in interpersonal relationship skills and ethical observance in a leaderââ¬â¢s interaction with the led group (Dubrin, 2012), aspects that identify concerns and initiatives for developing peopleââ¬â¢s interest through empowerment and motivation (Eeden, Clilliers and Deventer, n.d.). These characteristics are consistent with results from my leadership assessment. I for example like offering my ideas to people around me and am usually happy when my ideas empower the people towards success. I also inspire people through my interpersonal skills and personal initiatives that

Should Jobs Be Reserved For Women?
Should Jobs Be Reserved For Women? Most of the high level jobs are done by man, should government encourage a certain percentage of these jobs to be reserved for women ? Most of the high level jobs are done by men, I am not totally agree with this idea, because many high level jobs are done by women. Thereà is no discrimination between man and woman beforeà the eye of law. I deeply believe high level jobs are done by qualified person. So government should not encourage a certain percentage of high level jobs to be reserved for women. As a human being all are equal so those who have qualification to do high level jobs, they must will do. If government encourage or enact a law or reserve certain percentage that will be unfair and injustice and discrimination for man. High level jobs should be given on the basis of merit and qualification not consider as a man and woman.we do not agree, to make any reservation on the basis of race, age, sex and minority ,but high level job must be doneà by onlyà à qualified person. Man and Woman are equal so there should not have any special attention for women. This concept seriously violates human rights. There should not have any discrimination between man and woman. The discrimination never bring peace and stability in a state, so government must not make any special rules for women. As a democratic state, every state has rule of law and human rights, so high level jobs are only done by man, this is not fair and justice. If women have merit and qualification, they must hold high level jobs. To my mind, there is no restriction in law of a state for woman high level jobs. Human right is most important to live in the world with dignity and honour as a best creation of God. So knowledge and knowledge must be standard for high level jobs not on the basis of sex. So only justice and fair can bring the peace and security in a state, man and woman should not be competitor but dependable. Being a best creation of God, we must have sense of responsibility and duty to one another to make a better and peaceful world for the future generation. As a manà I deeply believe and trust, there should not have any unfair between man and woman. only the basis of merit must get high level post not consider anything else. To hold a sensitive post, need only knowledge and management capacity but disqualification must always discourage and deprive from high level post for betterment of nation and showing honour and justice for qualified and knowledgeable persons. Proper management is the most important to hold a high level job, soà one who will be seated in this post must be qualified and knowledgeable. If any person is woman but she is not qualified for the post but given the high level post she absolutely will be fail to hold the post. Motivation is very important requirement to hold a high prestigious job, one who has no this capacity she/heà cannot hold a high level post. So I hope and believe government should not to make any special attention to women for high level post because if they are qualified, no need to make any rule or law in parliament. Leadership is the best qualification to hold the high level jobs. To be a best leader, so easily can deal any critical situation. Those who will hold better post, musth have leadership skilled to performà properly his/her responsibilities andà duties. This is the age of globalization,so one who want to be leader one,s has to have leadership skilled otherwisewill beà seriously fail to make any decision. Challenging career, there are many job very challenging so women are not able to perform their responsibilities but if any woman get like that post as a leader she will totally fail to lead the team or group. For example a woman is not fit for post of chief of Army, Navy, and Air force, because they are not able to perform their duty properly with care and strictly. So body fitness is veryà important to hold like that high level job.So if government impose like that post, it will be harmful for a nation. Professional services are opened for all men and women, because there is no any condition or restriction for women.women can be professor, lawyer, pilot officer, doctor if they have qualification. So for this reason,no need to care more women for high level job. There are many women in the world who are justice, lawyer, minister, parliamentarian .They perform their responsibilities and duties with dignity and skilled. This is because, they are hardworkers and qualified for thisà posts Corruption is the great disease for state , it is worse than cancer . so make a proper well fear state . it is responsibilities for man and women to remove thisà à corruptionà from the grass root level of state , corruption free state and protect and guarantee human rights such kind of well fare state no conflict man between women incase of high level jobs. Misuse is the worst weak point to protect human rights and establish rule of law it is absolutely possible misuse of power in government wish to protect the human rights .disqualified person never get high level jobs .this is possible on the basis of rule of law but we have to keep in mind knowledge and qualification only should be standard for higher level job but not consider sex. Political instability never bring any peace and security, safety and dignity for a nation .for the cause of corruption and missuse of power always coming political instability in a state. For these reason many qualified man and women totally deprive from the higher level jobs.such kind of political environment never consider knowledge and qualification and care fare and justice . There are many states where women hold high level post such as Bangladesh is a highest rankingà for the leadership of womenà because there is a prime minister and opposition leader, home minister, foreign minister and agriculture minister all are women. they are notà elected as a women but for theire leadership qualification.so there is no way to say government should have extra care for women .if they become knowledgeable, they will reach their goals. In Pakistan also had an ex-prime minister banzir butto who was a woman and she was elected for her political wisdom but her nation did not make her prime minister just consider as woman .there are many women perform their responsibilities and duties with due care and dignity . there is a presidentà in india is woman .there were former prime ministers Indira Gandi and Sonia gandi also were women. In usa ,hilari Clinton is secretaryà of state of America so it is only possible for her qualification. In UK and Austrilia are handled supreme post by women,we do not like to make different between man and woman. As a human being all are equal,in case of dignity and rights and duties. Criticism of women ;most of the women across the world , to remind themselves busy in the kitchen .their mind do not want to work high abious job. They think , women responsibilities to produce baby and to take care and managing housing work. They do not know what areà their rights and duties.Soà for this reason, they are tortured, oppressed, nepressd by men.Their voices are not strong for their rights. They do not know how to establish their civil and political rights.Even now women are not prepared to take leadership of high level jobs. They think leadership and management are only for men. Reservation of negative effect,If government reserve certain percentage for high level jobs,it will make a serious negative effect in a state. Now a days all of the countries haveà recognised equal status of men and women. The certain percentage reservation will break the check and balance of a state.Day by day men will be unemployment which is not green signal for democratic states. So we do not agree on the statement of reservation of high level jobs for women. If government want to reserve must be for backward section people. There will be no any discrimination between men and women. It is high for women to raise their voices against injustice and unfair.Government can take effective step to make educated women.Womenà have to be conscious for their fundamental rights. If government make them properly educated then they will get high level jobs.No need make any reservation for women, from every part of the world, women should be conscious about their rights and duties, They mustà make pressure their own government to provide complete women rights. When they will be able to understand what are their rights and duties and will be qualified then theyà will get high level jobs. In brief ,I would like to say dignity and honour should not beà given on the basis of sex.for the causes of sincerity ,honesty, sense of responsibility, punctuality and duty.So any man or womanà will hold high level job if he or she has qualification. No need to make speacil law for woman for high level jobs.Only knowledge and knowledge should be most priority and standard to hold high level job.

What I hope to expect out of life in 10 years
I the blink of an eye times passes so quickly and we are left wondering what happened where has the time gone, it fears us knowing how easily it is for life to change in the blink of an eye . I have reached the stage in my life that I just want happiness and good health for myself and my familyâ⬠¦ Sometimes we don't know what's round the corner and life can so cruel.Thinking of life in ten years time can be scary I can think of two different paths; my dream path and my probably the path that will happen in the real world. In 10 year time I will be a few months of 50 and that's an achievement in itself. Hopefully in 10 years my diabetic health has stayed stable and my non cancerous tumour has remained non cancerousâ⬠¦.. Hopefully that time bomb within me hasn't went off.Firstly my dream path for 10 years time would be that to have fast tracked education, college and uni and perhaps be doing my dream job in life and that would be working as a baby nurse, helping little sick bab ies, whilst also raring my 4 beautiful children, the two eldest ones imagine will have flown the nest, maybe I will be a grandmother, and that will be the most beautiful gift of all. Whilst my 2 younger boys I imagine and hope that they will be 2 handsome teenagers and I am sure bringing plenty of teenage worrie to my door.
